Death of a family member if it is a defacto's family member

Hi, we are travelling overseas and within Australia for a holiday but a family member to my partner (great grand parent) is very old, if he passed away while we are overseas or interstate:
1) Will my partner be covered to fly to the funeral and back to where-ever we were holidaying?
2) Will I be covered if it is not a direct family member to me? My travel partner is my defacto
3) What is covered exactly and excluded?
Thanks

    Hi Mel,

    Thanks for your question.

Our policies cover you for reasonable additional travel and accommodation expenses that result directly from you being unable to continue the trip because of the death, sudden illness or serious injury of a close relative, who is resident in Australia or New Zealand, provided that the sudden illness or serious injury required hospitalisation or confinement.

However, as per the policy wording a close relative does not extend to great grandparents.

If this event were to occur you are still always welcome to submit a claim for consideration as we consider each claim on its merits, and where there are extenuating circumstances, will take these into consideration when we review your claim.

Should you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
