Bali Volcano / Ash Cloud

Hi, I purchased your "works" insurance fir travel from 15.11.17 to 25.11.17 on 20.9.17, I am hoping we are covered for the volcano / ash cloud. We were recommmeded to you. Thank you, Kind Regards Judy Clements.

    Thanks for getting in touch with us, I hope you’re well.

    Coverage is available for claims relating to an impact to your travels that arise from Volcanic Ash Cloud Activity and other natural disasters while you are in Bali, however, if you haven’t yet purchased a policy before the cut-off date, coverage is not available for claims arising from any volcanic activity, including any new ash cloud events, as such events are no longer unforeseen.

    I can confirm with you, as of 4:00pm, 20/SEP/2017, AEST our Underwriters consider the recent volcanic activity around Bali to be a current event. If you’ve purchased the policy by then and volcanic activity affects your trip in some way, the event that arises will be considered to be new and unforeseen with regards to your cover and your policy will respond accordingly with the following benefits:

    • Medical expenses overseas;
    • Travel delay;
    • Cancellation costs or additional travel and/or accommodation expenses necessarily incurred and that result directly from a provider cancelling or restricting your scheduled public transport services;
    • Withdrawal of services; and
    • Loss of personal effects.
